General Upholstery Care

Regular cleaning with a brush or even a light vacuum with the brush nozzle will help keep your chaise, sofa or chair dust-free. If you happen to spill something on your piece, immediately dab the stain with a clean, dry cloth. Do not rub the stain in or use an abrasive cleaner as this may make it worse and leave a permanent mark. If the stain won’t budge, seek professional assistance.

All our handcrafted, upholstered products conform to all strict UK Fire standards for domestic upholstery. Some of our handcrafted furniture may arrive with a slight chemical smell when they are first delivered, this is the flame retardant coating used to treat and protect our products. This is normal and within a couple of days (sometimes within a few weeks), the smell will disappear.

Leather

If you have a leather pieces, be sure to look after it. Leathers doesn't like sharp objects like belts or shoes, neither does it like the sun so keep it out of direct sunlight and away from heat sources. Dab any spillages with a dry absorbent cloth and don't use speciality cleaning product.

Velvets

Velvets are prone to marking a little under pressure. Most pressure marks are easily removed by gently steaming and brushing with a soft brush. If you have get a stain on your lovely velvet please seek professional help!

Sunlight

If your chaise longue is exposed to direct sunlight for a long period of time, like a conservatory or a sunny bay window, its colour may fade and the fabric could deteriorate. All our fabrics will sustain normal wear and tear, although if you do require a hard wearing fabric or have a special requirement please get in touch with the sales team on 01482 222306.

Legs

To clean the wooden legs use a damp cloth rinsed in clean warm water. Do not wash the painted legs as this may remove the colour, and avoid using detergents. Dragging furniture across the floor, will eventually cause damage to the joints, not to mention your floor! Leaning backwards on two legs of a chair or chaise may also weaken the joints.
